Oops!

I received a copy of my book in paperback form from Amazon. I have to admit, it’s gratifying to see your work made tangible in its final form. I decided to give it another read, just to see what the experience was like.

As I was perusing the story, complimenting myself on writing such brilliant prose, I found an error. Not just a little mistake — a big, honking boo-boo that will make readers say, “What?” This error is in both the Kindle eBook and the paperback versions.

Argh! Somehow, it had slipped through my final edit before I submitted it to Amazon KDP for publishing.

Fortunately, we live in an era of high technology, so I was able to change the manuscript, regenerate the proper files, and re-upload them to Amazon. Now, any new orders will never see that error.

What that does mean, however, is that if anyone has the previous version, they are now in possession of a highly valuable collector’s item — one that I am sure will become super-valuable after I become world famous. If you look at the copyright page and see “Version 1.0” there, then you have a copy with the mistake included. Be sure to hold on to it, as you will no doubt want to put it up for auction in a few years and gather untold riches for yourself. Or you can bequeath it to your progeny, if you feel so inclined.

I’m not going to tell you what the error was. If you’ve found it, let me know, and I shall confirm your observational skills are top notch. Otherwise, the secret stays with me forever.

In other news, I finished the second chapter of Seeing the Crooked Lines last night. The new novel is coming a long really well — at least, so far.
